‘Na̱mg̱is Natural Resources has provided an update regarding the upcoming G̱wax̱’nis (Chum) Salmon distribution for members in Alert Bay.
Distribution Update — October 12, 2026
‘Na̱mg̱is Natural Resources confirms that the fishing vessel carrying G̱wax̱’nis (Chum) Salmon is on its way to Alert Bay.
Members who previously requested chum salmon can begin arriving for pickup at 12:30 PM today, Monday, October 12, 2026.
Pickup Information
Date: Monday, October 12, 2026 (Thanksgiving Day)
Arrival Time: 12:30 PM
Location: Government Dock, Alert Bay
Pickup only — delivery will not be available.
Please note that 12:30 PM is the time members may begin arriving. Distribution will take place as the fish become available.

G̱wax̱’nis (Chum) Salmon Interest Registration
‘Na̱mg̱is Natural Resources has been collecting registrations from members interested in receiving G̱wax̱’nis (Chum) Salmon for pickup in Alert Bay.
This registration is separate from the 2026 Alert Bay Sockeye Salmon registration. Members who registered for sockeye must also register for chum if they wish to receive it.
Members who are unable to pick up their fish themselves may identify a maximum of two people who can pick it up on their behalf.
