On-Call Education Assistant

JOB OPPORTUNITY
We are accepting applications for the position of on-call Education Assistant at the T̓łisa̱lagi’lakw School.
Reporting to: T̓łisa̱lagi’lakw School Principal

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Deliver individual student learning plans as directed by the Principal
• Collaborate with Special Education Coordinator/Teacher
• Monitor student progress as required
• Maintain a daily activity log and provide written summaries or reports
• Supervise students as required as per school policies and procedures
• Assist with student field trips as required
• Participate in extra-curricular activities as required
• Consult with cultural workers regularly and as required
• Treat students in a respectful, responsible and fair manner with due consideration to the students’ social and psychological development
• Ensure that the school discipline policy is adhered to
• Maintain effective and collaborative relationships with school staff and parents/guardians
• Demonstrate responsible and professional behaviour towards attendance and work schedules
• Provide recess and noon hour supervision as required
• Work with Speech Pathologist to assist in speech and language support
• Other related duties as may be required from time to time

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS:
• Grade 12 preferred
• EA certification preferred
• A minimum of 1-year related experience working directly with elementary school aged children, preferably in a First Nations environment
• Superior communications skills particularly with school aged children
• Satisfactory Criminal Record Check & Vulnerable Sector Search

WAGE:
• $23 – $28 an hour depending on education, qualifications, and experience.
