2026 ‘Na̱mg̱is Referendum – Cormorant Island Specific Claim

A Referendum Vote will be held on November 6, 2026 regarding the proposed Settlement Agreement for the Cormorant Island Specific Claim.

All ‘Na̱mg̱is members who are 18 years of age or older on November 6, 2026 are eligible to vote.

Referendum Engagement Sessions

Referendum Engagement Sessions will be held for ‘Na̱mg̱is registered voting members. Dinner will be provided at each session.

How to Vote

Eligible members will have multiple ways to vote:

In Person
Vote at the polling station in Maya’anł Elders’ Centre in Alert Bay on November 6, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

Mail-In Ballot
All eligible voters will be provided with a mail-in ballot. Completed ballots must be received before 9:00 PM on November 6, 2026.

Electronic Voting
Electronic voting will be available beginning at 6:00 PM on October 18, 2026 and will remain open until 9:00 PM on November 6, 2026.

Eligible voters will receive a PIN that can be used to vote online or by telephone. Voting information will be provided when PINs are distributed.

Members are encouraged to review the 2026 Referendum Voter List to make sure their name appears.

The Voter List is also available for viewing at the ‘Na̱mg̱is First Nation administration offices.
