2025 ‘Na̱mg̱is First Nation Election Information
The following section provides an overview of the upcoming 2025 ‘Na̱mg̱is First Nation Election.
Several current Councillors’ terms are concluding this year, and eligible Members will have the opportunity to nominate candidates and participate in the election process.
How to Nominate a Candidate
Eligible Electors can submit nominations in person to the Electoral Officer on Nomination Day, or digitally by email on or before November 6, 2025, to:
Each candidate must submit:
- A Statutory Declaration confirming eligibility, and
- A signed Acceptance of Nomination form
Nominee eligibility requirements:
- Must be at least 19 years old by Election Day
- Must be a Permanent Resident of Cormorant Island for at least six (6) months before Nomination Day
- Must provide proof of residency (e.g., utility bill, tenant agreement, or similar document) and a signed statement by a Cormorant Island resident who is not a relative
- Must not have been convicted of an indictable offence in the past five (5) years
- Employees of the ‘Na̱mg̱is First Nation may be nominated but must resign employment if elected
How to Vote
Registered Members who are 19 years or older as of Election Day may nominate, second, and vote in this Election.
Voting options include:
- Online voting: from November 21 (9:00 AM) to December 12 (9:00 PM) at www.onefeather.ca/nations/namgis
- In-person voting: at the Advance Poll or on Election Day
- Mail-in ballot: ballots can be returned by mail, delivered in person, or sent by courier to the Electoral Officer. (Ballots received after polls close are void.)
Mail Service Notice
Due to the ongoing Canada Post service disruptions, mail delivery related to this Election may be delayed. Members concerned about returning their Mail-In Ballot package through Canada Post are encouraged to consider alternate options such as voting online or in person.
