Harm Reduction Coordinator

Reporting to the Mental Health Manager, the Harm Reduction Coordinator builds community relationships with peers and members, facilitates Harm Reduction education, Naloxone training, harm reduction supply distribution, and advocates with government and community agencies to support structural and individual changes addressing the opioid crisis. The position requires working with diverse populations, supporting mental health initiatives, and integrating traditional and alternative healing methods.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in Community Social Services or a health-related program (e.g., Human Services, Mental Health, Life Skills & Career Development)
  • Two to four years’ relevant experience in most of the following areas: mental health, addiction intake processes, knowledge of the Mental Health Act, understanding social effects of substance abuse, organizing community programs, using alternative and traditional healing methods
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Preference given to applicants of Aboriginal heritage when qualifications are equal
  • Valid BC Driver’s License, car insurance, and reliable vehicle
  • Able to provide official academic/certification records and three professional references
  • Successful Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check

Other Requirements:

  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, and during Health Centre closures (e.g., Christmas, June Sports, funerals)
  • Ability to respond calmly and effectively to medical or perceived emergency situations
  • Sensitivity to complex community issues and needs

Salary: $56,547 – $66,193
