Community Spotlight: Storm Cranmer

Health Care Assistant Program · NIC Graduate

Meet Storm

Storm Cranmer is from the Cranmer and Alfred families — her father is Ty Cranmer, and her mother is Amber Alfred. Storm recently completed her Health Care Assistant program at North Island College in Comox and will officially graduate at her convocation in June 2026.

Education & Career

Less than one week after completing her classes (September 2025 – March 2026), Storm was hired by Liǧʷiłdaxʷ Health Society (LKT Health – previously Kwakiutl District Council Health) in Campbell River. She now works with Elders in their homes, supporting community members across Wei Wai Kum, We Wai Kai, and Kwiakah Nations.

Storm enjoys working with Elders and has always felt a strong connection to this work.

Inspiration & Community

Storm’s passion is deeply influenced by her Papa Phillip Alfred and her Gagump Bill Cranmer, who have been her biggest supporters and inspirations. She has always been actively involved in her culture and community events.

Leadership & Activities

In her free time, Storm is an advocate for land, water, and Indigenous rights, volunteering with the Awi’nakola Foundation. She also runs her own business, Storm’s Sweets & Models, and stays active in sports through soccer.

Her team, the Young and the Rest of Us (Y&R), has won June Sports for the past two years, returning as undefeated champions in 2026.
