School Maintenance & Bus Driver

We are seeking applications for the position of School Maintenance & Bus Driver.

REPORTING TO: T̓łisa̱lagi’lakw School Principal

SCHOOL MAINTENANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow procedures presented in the school Operations & Maintenance Manual.
  • Regularly conduct a thorough preventative maintenance program on school buildings.
  • Operate and maintain the security systems and heating system year-round.
  • Liaise with band departments or contractors in the event of an emergency, warranty issues, contract concerns, and security related incidents.
  • Clean and maintain all interior and exterior windows.
  • Maintain all public walkways and driveways (free from debris, snow, and ice).
  • Assist custodial staff as needed (especially during summer break).
  • Set-up, dismantle, move, and secure tables, chairs, and other equipment.

BUS DRIVER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive students to and from school as well as on field trips, as required.
  • Alert students to basic safety rules and riding privileges.
  • Supervise students while boarding and disembarking the bus.
  • Inspect the bus daily to ensure cleanliness, safety, and good working conditions.
  • Perform bus evacuation drills with students each school year.
  • Maintains student list, driver’s log sheet, field trip log sheet, and incident forms.
  • Become familiar with school policies and procedures, including the HR policy.
  • Participate in professional development and/or training opportunities.
  • Do repairs as required and arrange a service schedule ensuring government standards.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Level 1 First Aid Certificate
  • WHMIS certificate or achievement within 3 months of employment
  • Valid Class 2 B.C. Driver’s License (with air brake endorsement)
  • Knowledge of bus safety and safety equipment
  • Demonstrated written, verbal, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to read and understand technological materials and blueprints
  • Must be physically fit and pass a medical examination
  • Satisfactory criminal record check (CRRP) and driving record (ICBC)

SALARY:

  • $44,932 – $52,272
