August 6, 2025

The sockeye food fishery reopened this morning, and we’ve sent a seine boat out in hopes of catching more fish for ‘Na̱mg̱is members. Please read the full update carefully. We’ll share more information as it becomes available.

Fish Availability

  • We are aiming to provide an estimated 10 fish per household, but the final number will depend on the actual catch.
  • Distribution is planned for Friday, August 8, depending on when the vessel returns.

Elder Deliveries (Alert Bay)

  • Deliveries will begin shortly after 9:00 AM.
  • Please help ensure Elders are aware and at home to receive their fish.
  • Each driver has a designated Elder delivery list.

General Member Pick-Up

  • Location: Beside the ‘Na̱mg̱is Gas Station
  • Start Time: Around 10:30 AM
  • What to bring: Please bring your own bags or containers — they will not be provided.
  • Important notes:
    • Follow directions from traffic control staff.
    • Do not park on the field — we need to keep access routes open.

Member List Reminders

  • If you live on-island, we assume you want fish — no need to call in.
  • If you called last time, you’re still on the list — please don’t call again.
  • If you missed the last deadline, we’ve already added you to the list.
  • The cutoff for off-island members and designating pickup people has passed — we’re no longer able to take new names.
  • If a household did not call/email to designate you as their pickup, you cannot pick up fish for them.

We appreciate everyone’s patience as we coordinate this next round of distribution. Please continue to check for updates, and share this information with other ‘Na̱mg̱is members.
