’NAMGIS FIRST NATION NOTICE OF NOMINATION DATE

Notice is hereby given that the ’Namgis First Nation has called a Nomination Day on November 6, 2025, in accordance with the ’Namgis First Nation Election Regulations (amended 2022), for the purpose of eligible Electors nominating candidates for five (5) Councillor positions.

The Election will be held on December 12, 2025, for the ensuing term of office.

Nomination Documents and Candidate Requirements can be submitted in-person to the Electoral Officer on Nomination Day or digitally on or before the Nomination Date to:

Voter Eligibility and Candidate Information

Registered Members who are 19 years of age or older as of Election Day may nominate, second, and vote in this Election.
Nominees for Councillor must:

  • Be at least 19 years old by Election Day.
  • Be a Permanent Resident of Cormorant Island for at least six (6) months prior to Nomination Day.
  • Provide proof of residency (e.g., utility bill, tenant agreement, or similar document) and a signed statement by another Cormorant Island resident who is not a relative.
  • Not have been convicted of an indictable offence in the previous five (5) years.

Employees of the ’Namgis may be nominated but must resign employment if elected.

Each candidate must submit a Statutory Declaration confirming eligibility and a signed Acceptance of Nomination form to the Electoral Officer.

Electors may vote online, in person, or by mail-in ballot.

Notice Regarding Mail Service Disruption

Due to the ongoing Canada Post service disruptions, mail delivery related to this Election may be delayed. Members concerned about returning their Mail-In Ballot package through Canada Post are encouraged to consider alternate options to ensure their vote is counted.

If you do not receive a Mail-In Ballot package:

  • Vote in person on:
    • Advance Poll: November 28, 2025 – 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM (Maya’anł Elders’ Centre)
    • Election Day: December 12, 2025 – 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM (Maya’anł Elders’ Centre)
  • Or vote electronically from November 21 (9:00 AM) to December 12 (9:00 PM) at www.onefeather.ca/nations/namgis.

If you receive a Mail-In Ballot package:

  • You may:
    • Have a trusted individual deliver it to a polling station; or
    • Send it by courier (at your expense) to:

Any Mail-In Ballots received after the polls close will be void.
