Family Support Worker

Salary Range: $62,058 – $72,722 annually
About the Role
Na̱mg̱is First Nation is seeking a compassionate and community-centred Family Support Worker to support children, parents, caregivers, and extended families who are self-referred or referred through the Ministry of Children & Family Development.
This role focuses on strengthening family wellness, child safety, prevention, and healing through culturally safe, respectful, and collaborative support rooted in Kwakwa̱ka̱’wakw teachings, values, traditions, and family relationships.
The Family Support Worker works alongside families, community partners, and service providers to help build on strengths, navigate challenges, and access supports that meet their unique needs.
Key Responsibilities
The Family Support Worker will:
- Develop family support plans in partnership with children, parents, caregivers, and extended family
- Provide ongoing family-centred support and case management
- Help families access services, supports, rights, and community resources
- Coordinate services and collaborate with community partners and service providers
- Provide parenting support, mentoring, life skills development, and practical assistance
- Support transportation, accompaniment to meetings, budgeting assistance, and court support when needed
- Work collaboratively with the K’wakwalat’si Child & Family Services team and community partners
- Deliver services in a culturally safe, strengths-based, and respectful way rooted in Kwakwa̱ka̱’wakw teachings
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with:
- A degree or diploma in a Human Services field (preferred), or a minimum of Grade 12
- At least six months of experience in the human services field
- Experience with report writing and maintaining documentation
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs, including Word
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to work collaboratively with families, Elders, colleagues, and service providers
- Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, Kwakwa̱ka̱’wakw culture, values, and kinship systems

Compensation is based on the Na̱mg̱is Salary Grid ($62,058–$72,722 annually). Candidates are typically offered compensation between the beginning and midpoint of the range.
