Early Childhood Development (ECD) Manager

About the Role

‘Na̱mg̱is First Nation is seeking a dedicated and community-focused Early Childhood Development (ECD) Manager to lead the ‘Na̱mg̱is ECD Team in supporting children and families through programs and services for children ages 0–12.

This role oversees the development, delivery, and day-to-day operations of Early Childhood Development programming while ensuring services align with legislative requirements, community needs, ‘Na̱mg̱is policies, and best practices.

The ECD Manager plays an important role in promoting healthy child development, supporting families, and building strong relationships across community.

Key Responsibilities

The ECD Manager will:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of child care and ECD services for children ages 0–12 and their families
  • Support planning, development, and implementation of ECD programs, activities, and services
  • Monitor and evaluate programs to ensure community needs and funding requirements are met
  • Promote engagement with on- and off-reserve families and improve service accessibility
  • Support staff growth through training and professional development opportunities
  • Build relationships with community partners, Elders, and Knowledge Keepers to strengthen programming
  • Promote programs and events through social media, newsletters, the website, and community outreach
  • Monitor program spending and support budget oversight
  • Assist with administrative and program-related duties as needed

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with:

  • An Early Childhood Education Certificate, diploma, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience working with Indigenous children, families, and/or communities
  • Valid First Aid certification
  • A clear criminal record check related to working with children and vulnerable adults
  • Strong relationship-building and community engagement skills
  • Experience with program planning and event coordination
  • A valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence

  • Ability to work collaboratively and build strong partnerships
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including reporting and grant writing
  • Ability to work independently and adapt in changing environments
  • Ability to professionally manage conflict and group dynamics
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and occasional statutory holidays
  • Knowledge of ‘Na̱mg̱is history and culture is considered an asset

Compensation is based on the Na̱mg̱is Salary Grid ($41,625–$48,304 annually). Candidates are typically offered compensation between the beginning and midpoint of the range.
