Derelict and Inoperable Vehicle Policy

‘Na̱mg̱is First Nation has adopted a Derelict and Inoperable Vehicle Policy and Procedure to provide a clear and consistent process for addressing derelict and inoperable vehicles on ‘Na̱mg̱is lands.

The policy is intended to support community safety, environmental protection and responsible land use by establishing a process for identifying, providing notice for, and removing vehicles that meet the policy criteria.

To help community members understand the policy and what to expect, the Lands & Infrastructure Department has also prepared an information brochure outlining:

  • what may be considered a derelict or inoperable vehicle;
  • how to report a vehicle;
  • the notice and removal process;
  • key timelines; and
  • possible towing, storage and disposal costs.
